3 Day.- Vilcabamba – Podocarpus National Park:
Today you will visit the Podacarpus National Park, in order to take the whole day to explore the upper reaches of this spectacular location. The Podocarpus National Park, is located in the province of Loja and has an extraordinary collection of ecosystems ranging from paramo and the endemic Podocarpus forests to rainforest, ranging from 100 to 3600 metres a.s.l. The large variety of fauna and flora is impressive due to its two areas: jungle and highland. You can find deer’s, ducks, wolves, turkeys, hummingbirds, orchids, etc. This area is very interesting as you can practice soft trekking programs.
4 Day.- Loja – Quito:
Flight back to Quito or extension to Cuenca or Guayaquil.
1 Day.- Quito – Flight to Loja:
Flight to Loja and reception at the airport. Loja is a city full of delights with its colorful houses, the typical colony-style street “Lourdes” and the Cathedral. You will visit the most interesting places such us “Independence Square”, “Plaza de San Sebastian”, the museum “Patronato Muncipal”, and in the afternoon the botanical Garden. The “Sentinel of the South”, offers history, archaeology, art and handicraft museums.
Southern Highlands
2 Day.- Loja – Vilcabamba:
Vilcabamba is located at 40 km from Loja. Vilcabamaba Valley has for many years been famous as "The Valley of Longevity". Inhabitants live 100 or more years, and some claimed to be older than that. The climate in this area is very pleasant and the surrounding countryside, its special landscapes of this dream valley offers lovely walks.
