Together with the members of the family, tourists can participate in agricultural activities, weaving, or any other daily activity. Cotacachi is a small city with a lot of virtues and is well known for its leather handcrafts, indigenous cultures its music and dancing, together with its traditions, festivities, and rituals. The housing in the lodges provides a unique opportunity to share everyday life with the indigenous family and experience mutual respect.
The Product:
The main idea of these programs is to bring the tourist into contact with the Ecuadorian way of living at the countryside, for the benefit of the local communities and to support the sustainable development of those areas. In the area of Cotacachi, there are 12 rural lodges in four different rural villages, where people can stay with one of the families from the community. Each lodge has room for two to three people.

Tour to the Indigenous Communities and Cuicocha Lake:
Here we can observe handicrafts and Andes instruments. Cotacachi with its special leather goods and the Cuicocha Lake, located in the Cotacachi Cayapas ecological reserve.
Trekking around Cuicocha Lake:
The trek around Cuicocha provides a taste of the rich biodiversity of the reserve, as well as a spectacular view of the two islands located in an old volcanic crater with a depth of 200m.
Trekking to Mojanda Lake and Mountain Fuya-Fuya:
Visit of the mystic lakes, Caricocha, Huarmicocha and Yanacocha Lakes. These placid lakes are hidden by grassland hills with the Fuya-Fuya Mountain as a background, while there are many indigenous legends surrounding their origin and history.
Horseback Riding Tours:
Departure will take place from Otavalo by jeep to the rural lodge Cuicochamanta Runa causay. From there, on horse, traveling through native forest in order to visit an indigenous community called San Nicolás, a place where we will be able to observe the making of small bracelets and the daily life of the people. From there, we will visit Lake Cuicocha and enjoy a traditional meal.
