2 Day.- Quito – Imbabura:
Departure to the North on the “Pan Americana-highway” the province of lakes. Visit to the town Cotacachi, hiere you will be able to purchase handmade leather products. Then drive to wonderful 200 m deep lake Cuicocha with its beautiful surroundings. Overnight in a nice and typical Hacienda.
1 Day.- Quito – Middle of the World:
Visit to the Ecuadorian capital’s colonial past, declared by UNESCO a “World Cultural Heritage.” Quito invites you to visit its historic and modern treasures. You start the tour visiting modern and colonial districts. First, the “Balcon Quiteño”, the Legislative Palace, the colonial center, the Independence Plaza, the Carondelet Palace (Government Palace) the Metropolitan Cathedral, “La Compañía” and “San Francisco” churches and a drive to “El Panecillo” hill for a marvelous panoramic view of the city. In the afternoon visit to The world famous Equator, “Mitad del Mundo” it is located only 30 minutes from Quito. Here you will have the opportunity to jump from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere. The Museum will teach you about all the different cultures of Ecuador.
Quito - Polilepis
3 Day.- Otavalo – Polilepis:
Early visit of the Otavalo market which is held almost everyday. This market is one of the most famous in South America and very well characterized due to the variety of people, products, sightseeing, etc. and for its, people who are the most friendly of the country, wearing white trousers, blue ponchos, and long braided hair. You will have enough time in the market or you can stroll along the narrow cobblestone streets. We continue our trip by the Panamericana north to the beautiful area of the Polilepis.
5 Day.- Polilepis – Quito :
After this unique experience we have to return through nice landscapes to Quito.
4 Day.- Polilepis area:
After preparing our baggage, we start our walk through the amazing “Polilepis forest” and through the Paramo. Discover the serenity and beauty of this unique nature. The trek lasts 3 to 4 ours and crosses marshes and streams, until we reach a riverbank in the heart of the Polilepis Forest at 3.500 m. At the nice and comfortable Hostería Polilepis a good dinner, the typical Ecuadorian dish “Locro de Papa” is waiting for us.
